Mr. Aguilar hails from Edinburg, Texas, and graduated from Edinburg High School in 1974. He earned an Associate’s degree in Accounting from Laredo Community College, attended Texas A&M International University (formerly Laredo State University), and the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executive Fellows program. Aguilar received the President’s Meritorious Executive Excellence Award in 2005 and the Presidential Rank Award in 2008.
Mr. David V. Aguilar is the former Deputy Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In this role, he oversaw over 43,000 federal agents and officers. As the nation’s highest-ranking Border Patrol agent, he managed the country’s border control law enforcement.
His career path includes serving as Patrol Agent in Charge of three different Border Patrol Stations in Texas from 1988 until August 1996. In January of 1988, he was first promoted to Patrol Agent in Charge of the Dallas Border Patrol Station in Dallas, Texas. In 1992, he was promoted to the Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station in Rio Grande City, Texas. In July of 1995, he was promoted to the Brownsville Border Patrol Station in Brownsville, Texas.
Mr. Aguilar retired in 2013 after 35 years of government service with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Border Patrol.
